German Parish Record Translation of the Marriage of Carl Bauch and Anna Braun on 28 November 1837, Rawitsch, Posen, Prussia.
Today’s post is about my continuing adventures trying to translate 19th century German parish records without knowing German. This a great record, full of interesting details and categories of information I’ve never seen in a parish marriage record before.
My friend Fran and I labored so long and hard on this and we still had to call on our German Genealogy teacher, Cari Thomas, to bail us out of the very hard parts. And now we know what a Schwarzviehhändler is. Thanks, Fran and Cari. (I just don’t know how to tell you both that this turned out not to be actually ancestors of mine. But we learned a lot!)
