Today is the maiden voyage of my geneablog.

I am a librarian and archivist (and I’ve even played one on tv). So I thought I might share some thoughts on family research from both sides of the reference desk in my new genealogy blog about research and resources.

Who Was Sassy Jane and What Does She Have to Do with Genealogy?

Sassy Jane Genealogy is a family history website, featuring blog posts and e-genealogy eBooks  on US and European genealogy research. The name Sassy Jane comes from 1920s newspaper ads for “rayon frocks,” combining my love of genealogy and everything vintage.

Much has changed since 1977, when I started my first job as a genealogy librarian at the Pikes Peak Library District, except my delight helping people find their ancestors. My first job out was an education, as I started just as (the first) Roots made genealogy so popular.

You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Just now my own research is in the U.S., Scotland, Sweden, Norway, Austria, Prussia, South Africa, and New Zealand. I’m a bit intimidated about researching German records for Prussia, though. But stick with me: I’ll learn!

I feel like I need a post sign-off like Edward R. Murrow. How about: Good night and good searching!
